Revealing the reflections of my eyeball…. Radcliffe Roye is a Brooklyn based documentary photographer specializing in editorial and environmental portraits and photo-journalism photography. A photographer with over thirteen years of experience, Radcliffe is inspired by the raw and gritty lives of grass-roots people, especially those of his homeland of Jamaica. Radcliffe strives to tell the stories of their victories and ills by bringing their voices to matte fibre paper.

I read somewhere that the feisty bald 105th Mayor, Ed Koch (may he rest in peace) helped the city climb out of a near financial death, thanks to his tough fiscal policies and budget cuts.
The first Black Mayor, David Dinkins (I pray he has a speedy recovery) pledged to create racial healing through his “Safe Streets, Safe Cities” program. And who could forget the pearly whites of Rudolph Giuliani, as he whisked away the peep shows, pimps and prostitutes from Times Square, and drastically curtailed city services for the homeless. Oh yes, and he was also given credit for bringing back stability to New York after the terrorist attack on the city on September 11.
Mike Bloomberg, the Eco Warrior, brought a smoking ban, tried a soda ban and ushered in education reform that still has our students failing.
So what will the 109th Mayor do?
On the plate of Bill De Blasio are issues that all four Mayors before him did not fix. Unemployment is on the rise, our children are failing, black men are still being harassed by the men in blue, and homelessness is at an all time high in the city. Oh hold on, there is one, peep shows never came back to Time Square, but who needs them when porn is free on the internet.
There is one thing I have to reiterate though, images like this should never be left up to the State to rectify. Images like this one, speak to a community and a society’s moral compass.
The past is of no use to us if it records nothing. Our inactivity shows up blank on life’s Richter scale. Yet, Mr. De Blasio now stands as the next Mayor, the next public official responsible for buying our consciences. #oggl_ig #brooklynportrait #streetportrait #streetphotography #iphoneonly #igers #documentary #reportage #instamood (at 2 Bros.
